Protest Song

Tracy Chapman -Talkin' Bout A Revolution

[Hook 1]
Don't you know
They're talkin' bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know
      They're talkin' about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

[Verse ]
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation                                     Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

[Hook 1]
Don't you know
They're talkin' bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

Don't you know
They're talkin' bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs

[Bridge]
Don't you know
You better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run
Oh I said you better run, run
Run,run,run,run,run,run,run,run,run,run

[Hook 2]
It's finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution
It's finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution oh no
Talkin' bout a revolution oh

[Verse]
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

[Hook 1]
Don't you know
Talkin' bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
And finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution
It's finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution, oh no
Talkin' bout a revolution, oh no
Talkin' bout a revolution, oh no

This song was writed by Tracy Chapman in 1988 on USA and it talks about the bad system of the whole world, but especially of USA  and the poverty of people. She express the unemployement like a waste of time and it needs to have a lot of changes.
This song was personal with me because poverty separated my family and me of other friends and a lot of us had to travel to other countries for try to have a better life and this songs talks about one of my bad feelings.

My protest song is "Wake me up when september ends" by Green Day or american idiot and this songs talks about when someone lose a loved person. And it can be for a war or another bad case.
I choose this song because when I heared this song I was 9 and at the first time I sobbed at the end because it was very beautiful, and I wanted to know the spanish lyrics, so I heared again, and when I was reading my tears were falling alone and my memories of death friends were passing very fast because my family and me knows how makes feel the death or the suffering of someone that you love so much.
